And The Palins Shall Inherit The Earth - Page 2
Her first book, Going Rogue: an American Life, the type of work people would ordinarily ignore, went viral, and predictions are that her second effort, America by Heart: Reflections on Family, Faith and Flag, will do even better. Sarah Palin's role as political commentator has helped produce consistently dominant ratings for Fox News, although her special, Real American Stories, didn't fare as well. Sarah Palin's Alaska, however, premiered with huge rating numbers for TLC.
Appealing to many is her Christian fundamentalism. She is anti-abortion, anti-gay rights, and even looked into banning books during her time as mayor of Wasilla, Alaska. Opponents of Barack Obama see her right-wing Christianity as a welcome change from his perceived Islamic sympathizing and socialist leanings. No one on-air figure appeals more directly to the anger and fear in America these days than Palin does. If elected (in 2012), she stated she would look into repealing Barack Obama's health care reforms, and can probably be counted on to push America into a hard right turn.
Even those who revile her see Sarah Palin as a force to be reckoned with. Is she destined for the nation's highest office? She has stated that she could beat Barack Obama at the end of his first term. If drive and determination count for anything, she should be the hands-down winner, but many in the Republican Party still see her as the loose cannon that caused them so much embarrassment in 2008.
Whatever role Sarah Palin may play in the nation's future, one thing she isn't going to do anytime soon is disappear from the public eye. This woman thrives in the limelight too much to just fade away, so if you can't learn to love her, better at least get used to her.
