Congressman Wants Ronald Reagan Unbreakable In Most Gas Stations

Ronald Reagan on the $50 / NYDN

I mean, really. What did Ulysses S. Grant ever do for us, other than win the Civil War and enforce some laws that gave rights to African-Americans? What else, buddy? Plus, that was like over a jillion years ago.

U.S. Representative Patrick McHenry, who lives in THIS CENTURY, wants to modernize the $50 dollar bill by immortalizing Ronald Reagan, whom some Internet-addled bloggers may remember from the 80s (he was mentioned in Back to the Future!) as a former president.

McHenry's reasoning was elocuted in a statement: "Every generation needs its own heroes. One decade into the 21st century, it’s time to honor the last great president of the 20th and give President Reagan a place beside Presidents Roosevelt and Kennedy."

Well, I'm all for using the fitty and putting a popular president on it. However, is there really anybody in the last 50 years who we can all agree is 50-worthy? Not everyone is such a huge Reagan fan. Maybe we can ask his son and Pamela Geller.

It's not a terrible idea, however. While $50 is a lot of money, they are a pain in the tuchus to make change from at most stores. It just kind of sits in your wallet for a considerable amount of time until it's all that's left, and you just want some Tic-Tacs from the newsstand. Then, instead of saying "Can you break a $50?" you can ask "Mr. Cashier, tear down this bill!"
