Convention Of Lies--GOP Style

How many lies can you tell in one night? Apparently, there is no limit—if you are Paul Ryan. The new savior of GOP, whiz kid Paul Ryan delivered his “stunning” speech and “energized” his power base last night in the Republican convention in Tampa. The reality is his speech was merely a pack of lies and deceit, and it is a sad time when his base can be “energized” with lies. This is what the Tea Party Republicans have come to. What a shame!
Paul Ryan said, “And the biggest, coldest power play of all in Obamacare came at the expense of the elderly. ... So they just took it all away from Medicare. Seven hundred and sixteen billion dollars, funneled out of Medicare by President Obama.”
The truth is Obama generated that $700 plus billion from a negotiated deal with the healthcare industry and cutting down wastage in the Medicare program, and the money will be spent mainly to extend the program for eight years. Moreover, Ryan himself proposed to cut the program’s spending even more than the amount Obama suggested to save, and aggressively pushed the proposal through the House as chairman of its Budget Committee. And the cuts do not even go the Medicare recipients, only used to give tax cuts to his rich buddies. In addition, Ryan's plan to remake Medicare a voucher program is in reality to destroy it, forcing the seniors to make more out-of-pocket costs, and throwing them to the wolves in private insurance business.
On TARP Paul said, “The stimulus was a case of political patronage, corporate welfare and cronyism at their worst. You, the working men and women of this country, were cut out of the deal.” The truth is Ryan himself solicited stimulus funds shortly after Congress approved the $800 billion plan. His petition to federal agencies included letters to Energy Secretary Steven Chu and Labor Secretary Hilda Solis seeking stimulus grant money for two Wisconsin energy conservation companies is on record.
