Editorial: 12 Years of Fear (9/11 Never Forget) - Page 2
But let us not forget those lost on 9/11. Let us not forget the brave and courageous first responders that ran into burning and crumbling buildings only to die. Let us not forget the horrific images of people, regular office workers, jumping to their deaths to avoid being burnt and crushed to death. Let us not forget the hundreds and thousands of people directly and indirectly affected by 9/11. As a Jew, I was taught never to forget what happened during the Holocaust, as an American I think the same of 9/11.
For that reason, Americans - as a people - will never be defeated by anyone trying to destroy our freedoms or ideals, the ideals this country were built on. Whether it be a shape shifting enemy who hides among and sacrifices the innocent (looking at you Al-Qeada and friends) or it be a government intent on riding out the fear train as far as it will take them.
Because that's what we have now become. A country of fear. Either direct or indirect, it's like Florida during the Cuban Missile Crisis. We're all hiding under our desks because that is what our government is telling us to do. Well, I say no more hiding. I offer proof of the will of the American people in the actions that took place on United 93 that fateful day. I think to myself, by the fourth plane - when they knew what was going on and what was at stake - American people stood up in the face of cowardly evil and whupped some ass. That is what we, as a people need to start doing. We need to gain the confidence and self awareness to look into the face of evil and tell it to plainly fuck off.
That's kind of hard to do when every scare is amplified by a media that thrives off disaster, that thrives off fear. They feed on it, like leeches off blood in a piranha filled river. Again, I ask you the American people to look for truth when none is being offered. The truth is, the biggest terrorist strike on this countries soil was carried out with box cutters. The threat of a dirty bomb, the threat of destroying our infrastructure, those are real - but should we live in fear? Should we be forced to put aside our freedoms "just in case?"Continued on the next page
