Fired Over Voting For Obama? Paging Doctor Terrible

Update: TexAgs pulled the forum thread in question from being viewed. However, I thought ahead: Here is the Laid Off My First Obama Voting Employee Today (PDF 13.1MB) thread in all of its weirdness.

So you're a dermatological doctor from Texas. You're upset about "Obamacare" being put into place. As such, you fire an employee who voted for Obama. What do you do next?

The only logical next step is to POST ABOUT IT ON THE INTERNET:

A forum member "dermdoc" is the gentleman in question. His status seems to relay that he's a longstanding member of this specific community of Texas A&M alums, TexAgs.com.

Also, notice the laughably cliche racist comment later in that image.

To be fair, he doesn't come out and say that he fired the employee in question because he/she voted for Obama, but later in the thread he seems to imply that his choice was made easy due to this fact.

Is this legal? Can you fire someone because of who they voted for? A quick look at the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's Types of Discrimination site doesn't seem to list political orientation.

Also, Texas is an at-will employment state. Can an employer tell you to GTFO for voting for a politician with whom you disagree? That seems like vote coercion to me.

Regardless of the political affiliations of the aforementioned, is this legal? I honestly don't know, but it doesn't feel like it should be.
