For What It's Worth

There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I don't know.
This is just my opinion?
But I was, before I retired, a paid professional with training in the area of public relations.
And I just don't think the way to win the hearts and minds of the American people is to be seen on TV beating up Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, taking their American flag and throwing it to the ground.
I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
I just don't see that as an image that will play well in the great flyover areas... unless...
Unless they believe the batshit crazy rantings of someone like Glenn Beck who says the Occupy Wall Street bunch will "drag you out into the street and kill you."
Yes. He said that.
“Capitalists, if you think that you can play footsie with these people, you are wrong. They will come for you and drag you into the streets and kill you. They will do it. They’re not messing around. Those in the media – and I am included in this – they will drag us out into the streets and kill us. If you’re wealthy, they will kill you for what you have. You cannot tolerate this kind of stuff. You certainly do not encourage it.”
There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
Well, when the cops waded in to the Occupy Boston crowd last night, pounding on American Veterans with their night sticks, pepper spraying them, tearing the American Flag from their grip and throwing it to the ground... that's just not good imagery.
I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Speaking of imagery, as in "not good"?
From the Chicago Tribune — not a newspaper one thinks of as being friendly to progressives and their causes --
Floors above, other workers in the Board of Trade had a message for the protesters, spelled out across four windows: "We are the 1 percent."
A CNN iReporter got a photo.
Flippant? Arrogant? "Let them eat cake"?
What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side
