CNN Reports that officials inside Newt Gingrich's campaign have leaked that the GOP Presidential hopeful will be formally dropping out of the race for the Republican nomination next week.

Following yesterday's announcement that front-runner Mitt Romney swept New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania and Delaware, perhaps Romney's ongoing tidal wave of victories was the impetus needed for Gingrich to feel his hat had been handed to him once again. In Delaware alone, Romney received twice the vote of Gingrich, faring even better in Tuesday's races against GOP candidates Gingrich, Ron Paul and Rick Santorum.

CNN's Timothy Stanley predicted yesterday that Gingrich will likely keep this week's speaking commitments, and make a public announcement formally withdrawing from the race on Saturday. CNN's breaking news report states those close to Gingrich believe he will formally withdraw during a Tuesday event, and will "pro-actively help Mitt Romney become president".
