The debate over the building of a new mosque just blocks away from the site of the September 11, 2001 attacks in lower Manhattan has now been raging for months. The pros and cons have all been bantered around and the controversy will not die.

Like most Americans, I have been disturbed by the insensitivity of the group attempting to build the mosque, including its leader Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf. With so much property available in the area, including some that has been offered at a discounted rate, there is no reason why the group can’t compromise and move the religious center just a few blocks out of respect for those that lost loved ones on that fateful day.

After watching Rauf last night during his appearance on Larry King Live, I now know why Rauf and his group will not compromise. They won’t because this is a test of a group infiltrated with radical factions of Islam. Not only those who follow Islam in its purest form, and call for the use of Sharia Law in America, but those who, like Rauf, don’t compromise. Instead, they use the American system of compromise and tolerance against us.

In his appearance Rauf makes so many veiled threats it’s ridiculous. When speaking about why he refuses to move the mosque only a few blocks away, Rauf offers this warning to America:

"The headlines in the Muslim world will be that Islam is under attack," Rauf told CNN’s Soledad O’Brien. “But if you don't do this right, anger will explode in the Muslim world.”

He then went on to call out what happened after the 2003 Danish publication of a cartoon mocking the prophet Mohammed.
