Hang Ajmal Kasab: Pakistan to India!

Pakistan seems to be consistently following its decision to grant Most Favored Nation (MFN) status to India putting not exactly an end but postponing the swirling doubts that always surround any Pakistani decisions or policies.
Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik surprised everybody by making a very strong statement that Ajmal Kasab was a no-state terrorist and should be hanged. He was speaking to Indian journalists in the sidelines of the 17th South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Summit that began on November 10 at Addu city, Maldives.
Ajmal Kasab was the only terrorist captured alive during the Mumbai terror attack of 26/11 in 2008 and he was recently sentenced to death by Mumbai High Court. But as permitted by the Indian justice system to any accused he appealed against the verdict at the Supreme Court and the most sensational case has still been under process.
Speculations were already afloat regarding Pakistan’s motives in doing so. After the killing of Osama Bin Laden by the US Navy Seals at Abbottabad in Pakistan the terror-torn country was exposed in its anti-terror policies and had been facing US rebuke despite the latter’s interests in Afghanistan. Rehman Malik, answering questions by Indian journalists at Addu city, further clarified that the trial of the seven accused of 26/11 in Pakistan would be speeded up after the visit of its judicial commission to India shortly.
Meanwhile Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh met the Pakistani counterpart Yousuf Raza Gilani and the two leaders had discussed about opening a new chapter in their bilateral relations following the path-breaking MFN decision.
Things look positive indeed at the moment for the new beginning of a healthy and friendly India-Pakistan peace initiative. The citizens of both the countries would only be happy to welcome it.
