If you've just joined us from the Planet Frou-frou from the very, very distant Galaxy Who-do ten million, billion, gazillion light years away, please allow me, dear readers, to inform you of "Prop 19" in California.

Moreover, if you haven't as of yet heard, the voters of the great state of bliss and euphoria are going to vote for the legalization of marijuana, also known as pot, mary jane, boo, crazy weed, maui wow-wee, etc., etc.. Should, ought, must they? Well before I answer that allow me to address the following peripheral and ancillary issues:

First is the gubernatorial election which I as a usually certifiable, pollyanaish, Panglossian, pie-eyed optimist, would hope that Meg Whitman should win. But the polls don't look too good for her and I am afraid "Governor Moonbeam" is going to eke this one out.

Well, what then? What if Moonbeam becomes governor? I personally am extremely pessimistic. The former together with a very liberal progressive and pro-union legislature will dig in their heels, and instead of cutting excessive spending and renegotiating insane union contracts, and even more insane state workers' pension plans, etc., they will simply double down by wildly raising taxes to confiscatory levels and also wildly increase spending at the same time.

It will be a replica of the Obama administration but only on far more left-wing steroids. And it will be the final turn of the screw in the insinuation and institution of the People's Democratic Socialist Republic of California.

The unintended consequences of this event will be many and nefarious. First things first, many sectors of the economy will either be utterly marginalized or utterly destroyed. Whether it be agriculture (which is currently under attack by the whacko Green socialists and environmentalist Nazis) or Silicone Valley where many if not most of its businesses will flee to greener pastures in America or leave the nation outright.
