Leftist Bloggers Cross Bayh Off Their Pagan Christmas Card List
Now that the news of Evan Bayh is out there, we've seen how bloggers reacted and how this puts the Democrats in a bind. But why did he really leave?
One of his lifelong friends didn't outright blame the liberal bloggers, but didn't exactly depict them as reasons for the Indiana senator to stay in Washington:
"He hates the Senate, hates the left bloggers ... They are getting their wish, pure Democrats in the minority."
Last month he was on Fox News talking about "far left wing blogs" criticizing President Obama's spending freeze. And a year ago the liberal publication The American Prospect charted Bayh's conservatism on a graph, noting how quickly he shifted to the center once the 110th Congress began. And you hate to see such fallout; he was a trendy choice for the Democratic tickets in '04 and '08 as VP or maybe even the prez himself.
Right wing, left wing, chicken wing. Any blog with wings has a high penchant for soaring high and crapping on whatever public figures they choose to shadow. You don't have to love them, but they will — WILL — always get you. And they seem to have gotten under Bayh's skin, enough to at least provide another reason to not run for re-election.
