Man Up President, Call The GOP’s Bluff - Page 2
The Republicans know how the game is played. When they are in power, they cut taxes for the super rich, run up the deficit like there is no tomorrow, increase debt ceiling without batting an eyelid, and push the country to the brim. When the Democrats come in power they cry foul—the country is facing imminent doom, cut, cut, cut—cut all social programs, dismantle all safety nets, regardless, when it comes to the super riches, the tax cut must continue.
It is however that very tax cut which is the reason why we are here. Tom Hartmann wrote, “The debate about whether or not to roll Bush's tax cuts back to Clinton's modest mid-30% rates is absurd. It's time to roll back the horribly failed experiment of the Reagan tax cuts. And use that money to pay down Reagan's debt and rebuild this nation.”
Nearly 60% Americans support rolling back tax cut to the riches. If Obama had any bone in his spine, he would tell the GOP: No negotiation on debt ceiling hike. And he would use his bully pulpit to blame GOP for taking the country hostage by pushing it toward an unprecedented default of its obligation.
I am willing to take a bet that he is again going to capitulate. There has never been an American President who was totally devoid of any leadership as Obama has been.
Get ready people, to witness another meek submission of the donkeys at the feet of the elephants!
