Newt Gingrich's Ex-Wife Talks to ABC News - Airs on Thursday's Nightline
Wednesday night The Drudge Report broke the story that Marianne Gingrich has provided an interview to ABC News.
Implications could be great considering the interview will air on Nightline just two days before the South Carolina primary.
Recent polls show that Gingrich has been gaining on front runner Mitt Romney. The momentum could be in jeopardy and likely depends on exactly how scandalous the revelations are perceived by conservative South Carolina voters.
Much like my philosophy on finding jobs, Newt's philosophy towards obtaining wives is, it is always easier to find a new wife while you still have one. This past affinity for adulterous activities should not play well with Christian Conservatives, but the effect is mitigated due to the fact that he is running against a long married family man who has the misfortune of also being Mormon.
The former Speaker of the House who lost that position shortly after heaping heavy criticism on former President Bill Clinton for his marital improprieties while simultaneously having an adulterous affair with his current better half Callista has already been actively performing damage control.
Kathy Lubbers and Jackie Cushman, daughters from his first marriage have released a statement in anticipation of the interview. They seem to be attempting to make the argument that you really cannot trust a scorned woman. Apparently they think that the six years that their father had lied to her and cheated on her may somehow effect her opinion about their father. This will certainly call into question the voracity of her statements and leave the trustworthiness of their father beyond reproach.
Perhaps if the unbiased statement from his daughters does not work then Newt will resort to repeatedly referring to President Obama as the food stamp President and continuing to provide lectures on the best way to keep those lazy free loading blacks off the public dole and into janitor uniforms. This is the type of stuff the South Carolina voter really loves.
