Obama Calls for Unity During State of the Union Address
President Obama’s 3rd State of the Union Address distinguished his vision of America from that of the Republicans.
The recent Republican debates in South Carolina and Florida appeared to be more focused on providing memorable and entertaining one-liners rather than relevant conversation about key issues affecting families across America.
Cloaked in the verbiage of the constitution, Americans watched ethics and morality take a back seat during the debates. These principals seem to no longer apply for those seeking the highest office in the land and unfortunately, there's no “truth in advertising” requirement for politicians. More often than not both democrats and republicans have to be fact-checked.
After watching and listening to the republican debates, one would think that the country is on the brink of total collapse as a result of all things Obama. During the CNN debate in South Carolina, Romney said, “ We need to return to the principles upon which this country was founded. Our president said, I think in a very revealing way, that he wants to fundamentally transform America. He’s wrong; we need to restore the values that made America the hope of the Earth. And I understand those values. I will do everything in my power to restore those values by keeping America free, by fighting for free enterprise, by standing up to President Obama and pointing out how he has made it almost impossible for our private sector to reboot. I will get America working again. I will defeat Barack Obama and keep America, as it’s always been, the shining city on a hill. Thank you.”Continued on the next page
