Rachel Maddow Mesmerized By SCOTUS Finger Puppets
There may be no more exhilarating pastime for snarky hipster personalities than to bring down the stuffy, starchy elders in positions of power. Haha, that old dude doesn't know how to text properly! And he's not on Facebook! What a coot.
The Supreme Court now has to adjudicate on matters of sexting with government-issued electronic SMS devices on personal time. It might actually make for an interesting debate. Or it's an excuse for MSNBC's Rachel Maddow to re-enact the scene with finger puppets.
Cute, but unfortunately it looks like those quotes are silly only when the rest of the conversation is omitted. Of course John Roberts knew the difference between electronic mail and pagers. Mary Katharine Ham over at the Weekly Standard filled in the rest of the context of the oral arguments of Ontario v. Quon. Leading up to Roberts' question, Ruth Bader Ginsburg asked a very similar question herself — it was just worded better.
Now that we got all that cleared up, is there anything Maddow wanted to add to her segment?
Oh, right. Wrong right-wing finger puppet. Bless those diligent viewers, always correcting the important mistakes!
