Registering the Wealthy to Vote is Un-American

In a column dated Sept. 1, published in the online "American Stinker"... sorry, "Thinker," conservative genius Matthew Vadum offers the opinion that it's just downright un-American to encourage poor people to vote.
Why?
Registering them to vote is like handing out burglary tools to criminals. It is profoundly antisocial and un-American to empower the nonproductive segments of the population to destroy the country — which is precisely why Barack Obama zealously supports registering welfare recipients to vote.
Hmm. Interesting point. People who vote, voting for people who back ideas that will, in the long-run, help them better their lives.
Well... if that's the case, I submit it's even MORE un-American to register RICH people to vote.
Registering THEM to vote is like handing out the combination to the safes at the Treasury. It's like giving them the front door key to Fort Knox! It is profoundly anti-social and un-American to empower the nonproductive wealthy to destroy the country — which is precisely why the Republican Party zealously supports registering rich people to vote.
Seriously. We've given the wealthy tax cut after tax cut after tax cut to the point where they are paying (those who do pay) the lowest tax rate on their income since the Eisenhower administration. Why did we do this? So they'd have the incentive to create jobs. DID they create jobs? Well, the Bush presidency, which cut the tax rates in 2001, ended it's eight-year blight on America with a 0-net job growth rate. So it's clear to anyone who isn't STUPID that the people who benefited from the tax cuts did NOT use the money to create new jobs... they POCKETED the money.
And how do Republicans want to fix the economy? Give MORE tax cuts to these un-productive, un-American wealthy industrialists so they can ship more of our jobs overseas and create MORE poor and unemployed people. Then the GOP will have MORE people to blame for not carrying THEIR burden by not MAKING enough to PAY taxes.
