Rick Santorum Drops Out

Rick Santorum announced his decision to "suspend his campaign" (a polite, political phrase which means "getting out while the getting is good") on Tuesday afternoon. Like his decision to enter the race, Santorum says that the decision to leave was made around the family's kitchen table.
Even though Newt Gingrich still persists in hanging on
Romney's closest competition, as of now, is gone.
Rick Santorum called it quits; suspended his campaign.
GOP hopes that his loss will be Mitt Romney's gain.
Pundits say he left the race because he wouldn't win
Pennsylvania. Maybe so; but, I think he got in
Not because he thought he'd win but, foremost in his mind?
Making sure he'd change the things a Google search would find.
Now a frothy mix of news about his sweater vest
Has surpassed what once was there; an angry, gay man's jest.
I think Rick Santorum did exactly what he planned.
Having read that entry, I completely understand.
Although Santorum never mentioned his former competitor by name, Mitt Romney issued a statement praising the decision and indicating he would be meeting with Santorum later in the week to discuss the future. One imagines it would be fairly awkward conversation. How do you endorse a man you've called a liar?
