Romney Bashes The Brit's Olympics

Photo- TelegraphMitt Romney’s fundraising trip to London, UK has been greeted with anger and frustration after the republican Presidential candidate slammed Britain’s ability to host the Olympics.

‘Disconcerting‘ was how he chose to describe the preparation’s for London 2012, saying it was “hard to know just how it will turn out.” adding “The stories about private security firms not having enough people, the supposed strike of immigration and custom officials - that is obviously not something that is encouraging.” Romney moaned to US NBC TV’s Nightly News.

However hours later, after meeting with UK’s Prime Minister David Cameron in Downing Street down played the remarks, claiming them to be ’Small Mistakes’ and he had seen ‘great progress’ . Romney who is behind Obama in the polls by a few points was part of the management committee for the Salt Lake City smaller winter Olympics in 2002, which was not without its own hiccups and minor issues. “I don’t know of any Olympics that has been able to run without any mistakes whatsoever.” Romney said after the meeting with PM David Cameron.

Romney is heading off to Israel and Poland shortly, in a bid to boost his international profile and appeal, also to raise yet more funds for his presidential campaign(Banking giant and Libor fiddling Barclays have already donated a million to him). However is charm offensive is rather more offensive and much less charm that one would have expected, “He certainly isn’t winning friends and influencing people.’ one political advisor told me this afternoon. Another senior Whitehall source said: "What a total shocker. We are speechless."    London Mayor, Boris Johnson wasted no time in rejecting Romney's claim. "London is as ready as any city has ever been in the history of the Olympic Games," he said. Journalist Paul Harris said 'Good old Mitt. His charm offensive in the UK failed to be charming, but he really pulled off the offensive”. Other comments from political people and the public have been equally dismissive of Romney’s remarks. “Romney should keep his mouth shut, especially being the fact that the US, holds the distinct record of hosting the worst ever organized summer games (Atlanta '96) claimed on in Daily Mail paper.
