Romney: Half of Americans Pay No Taxes, Are Not My Concern

In what will likely prove embarassing to the Romney campaign, a video posted by Mother Jones' website shows the GOP Presidential candidate talking to a private audience about Obama supporters, in a fashion far more degrading than typically shared when the cameras are rolling.
In the 1 minute long video filmed using a hidden camera, Romney can be heard calling those that support Obama and the Democratic Party in general as essentially free-loaders, describing them as "people who pay no taxes" and "dependent on government, who believe they are victims."
When behind closed doors, Romney's other uncensored thoughts about 47% of America's population? "My job is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."
It's certainly doesn't spell good for a wealthy candidate with tax release separation anxiety and a money-making past fraught with dismantling American businesses (and jobs) to get caught stating that almost half of the voting population are government teat-sucking deadbeats, and, if elected, you'll likely ignore them.
Obama campaign manager Jim Messina, perhaps remembering the fallout his candidate suffered years ago when stating political conservatives tend "to cling to guns and religion" during tough times, released a statement in response to the video's online release:
“It’s hard to serve as president for all Americans when you’ve disdainfully written off half the nation.”
The Romney Campaign doesn't deny the content of the video tape, instead going into damage control mode, releasing the following statement through Communications Director Gail Gitcho:
“Mitt Romney wants to help all Americans struggling in the Obama economy. As the governor has made clear all year, he is concerned about the growing number of people who are dependent on the federal government, including the record number of people who are on food stamps, nearly one in six Americans in poverty, and the 23 million Americans who are struggling to find work. Mitt Romney’s plan creates 12 million new jobs in four years, grows the economy and moves Americans off of government dependency and into jobs.”Continued on the next page
