The passage of Senator Robach’s bill has been applauded by equal pay advocates across the state. “The YWCA would like to thank Senator Robach for his leadership on this critical piece of legislation,” said Kelli Owens, Director of Government Relations and Public Policy at YWCA of the Northeast. “It marks the recognition by New York State’s policy makers that we must take intentional steps as a society to combat the gender wage gap and poverty among New York’s women.” Beverly Neufeld, President of New York Women’s Agenda (NYWA) and Director of the Equal Pay Coalition (EPCNYC), called the bill “a welcome accomplishment for Equal Pay advocates and women across New York… This is truly a ‘win’ for New York State.”
Senator Robach’s bill passed the New York State Senate with unanimous and bipartisan support. It currently awaits Governor Cuomo’s signature to complete its passing.
