State of the Union, Salmon, and Ron Paul - Page 2
I’ll admit, I don’t think Ron Paul is crazy. In fact, I think he’s a bit of a genius. No, I’m not one of those rabid Ron Paul supporters. I just like the old man. It might just be that he looks a little like my grandfather. It might also be that I’ve been watching too much Stossel (a show that every man, woman, and child in America should be watching). But it might also be that he’s right.
What’s all this Libertarian/Tea Party crap about simplifying government? I’ll explain a bit if I can. The government is too big, too complex, too involved.
Problem #1: Who regulates government? We do by voting. How can we regulate it if we don’t understand it?
Problem #2: Complexity in government leads to inefficiency (see DMV)
It is for these two basic reasons that the Tea Party was established, and why Ron Paul would, in fact, be an awesome President.
And don’t think he’s going to be able to muck up the country with a few strokes of the pen. We have this nifty thing called checks and balances built into our government, so the good people of the US Senate and the slightly less powerful but equally good people of the House of Representatives will keep Mr. Paul in line… as much as they can.
