Terror Trials Getting Grief
Once again people are getting in an uproar because the Government is finally trying to do something for the good of the American people. There are waives of protest when the Government tries to enforce border patrol or do anything to stop illegal immigration. Now people are wanting to take to the streets because the Government is trying to discuss ways to get rid of terrorism and home grown terrorist. I guess after all the years of our Government not being responsible or listening to us about anything it has created a dammed if you do and a dammed if you don't situation. I am all about smaller Government and having more responsible politicians but this is one thing I am ecstatic about. Finally, the Government is actually trying to help protect Americans, ALL Americans no matter the ethic background or religion, and they are getting trashed.
President Obama has even changed his view on terrorism. He issued an executive order eliminating the two-year ban on military tribunals and establishing formal procedures for the review of cases in which detainees are being held indefinitely without trial. Although President Obama still hasn't found a way to close Guantanamo.
Minnesota Democratic Rep. Keith Ellison, the first Muslim congressman, gave emotional testimony Thursday to a House of Representatives committee hearing on radicalization in the U.S. Muslim community. He was emotional while talking about a Muslim-American first-responder who died on September 11, 2001. Ellison criticized New York Republican Rep. Peter King for leading the controversial hearings that have reignited a national debate over how to combat a spate of home grown terrorism. Ellison was not the only critic of the hearings. Muslim groups as well as California Democratic Representative Jackie Speier and U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder have compared the hearing to overly zealous investigations of communism in the 1950s that led to false accusations that destroyed careers.
I guess we are just going to have to watch and see what happiness. Will political correctness prevail or will Politicians put he safety of the country first.
