The GOP-Controlled House Ensures Job Creation by Killing Women

Despite my Marxist, Communist, Fascist, and nearly slavish devotion to "The One", and my willingness to stop thinking for myself and just repeat the DNC talking points like a good little Obamabot, there are times when I must admit a slight, grudging admiration for the Republican-controlled House of Representatives.

All across America, people are taking to the streets demanding that our politicians unfasten their suckling lips from the teat of Wall Street and stop governing for the sole benefit of the 1% of the wealthy and consider, instead, the 99% of us who are NOT wealthy and therefore have no influence.

And damned if the Republican-controlled House of Representatives didn't spring into action. With the economy crumbling, with American job after American job being sent overseas to be done more cheaply and under more dangerous conditions by people who do not demand the respect, the safe working conditions, the living wage and the benefits due the American worker, with unemployment at record rates and showing no signs of recovery, the Republican-controlled House of Representatives has taken bold action to ensure that what is already the law of the land is made even MORE intrusive and would, if signed into law, require hospitals to allow women to bleed to death on their waiting room floors if that's what their administrators deemed medically necessary.

Yes, my fellow American. In these times of economic turmoil, with thousands upon thousands of Americans setting up tent cities in our parks and marching on our streets to demand economic justice, the Republican-controlled House of Representatives has passed a law, HR 358, which would allow a woman to die rather than receive a life-saving abortion.

Showing again how much they value the life of the UN-born over the ALREADY-born, the Republican-controlled House of Representatives has taken the Hyde Amendment (which already restricts the use of federal money to fund abortions) and turned it into what I like to call the "Kill the Harlots" Amendment.

Under current law, every hospital that receives Medicare or Medicaid money is legally required to provide emergency care to any patient in need, regardless of his or her financial situation. If a hospital is unable to provide what the patient needs — including a life-saving abortion — it has to transfer the patient to a hospital that can.

HR 358, which in a typical laughingly ironic Republican/Orwellian "Newspeak" fashion has been named the "Protect Life Act," would make it legal for a federally-funded hospital where the administrator is against a woman's right to choose her own reproductive freedom to let her die on the floor rather than provide an abortion that would save her life. A woman suffering massive hemorrhaging during a natural miscarriage would not get the necessary treatment to save her life it involved removing the fetus that is killing her.
