The Mosque Analysis - Part 1
The idea of a New Mosque – a grand one - near Ground Zero, the site of the destroyed World Trade Center buildings as identified in common parlance in the US, is a topic of confrontationist debates. The arguments against and in favor are becoming audible on this side of the globe in India, too. I’m sure many call centers in India’s IT hubs would be receiving queries from US customers not just on technical support needs for the products that they use, but also on the issue of the new Mosque.
The moot point is why and not whether the new mosque should be built! As plainly stated as it could be, the Park51 project is planned to create a facility for the local Muslim community where they can assemble, and this project also envisages a mosque (1) to be built where Muslims can worship. The current facilities in the area are falling short for the number of people who would like to use such facilities. So here is the plan for a new facility at this available location for the Muslims of New York. In a general sense, this is what has been the reason, plain and simple. And of course, for all those who are interested, the facility would be open and welcoming. The project website states that it will be open to all.
This reference site also mentions that the Park51 project is separate from Cordoba House. The role of Cordoba House would be to direct the multi-faith programs at Park51. Does one feel like going in a circle? Does one still believe it to be so simple? Is there an indicative meaning? Is there a conspiracy? Ah…! Only if one could read the minds of those involved, including that of Imam Feisal. Let us look at it from some more angles.Continued on the next page
