Uprising in Libya Turns Deadly, Government Fires on Own People
Reports are coming from Libya that the regime has turned against the people with the full force of mighty guns.
There are reports of "massacres", of people being shot while praying. Further news of the peaceful protest in Benghazi where about 10,000 people had taken to the streets, have come in suggesting that the police forces are shooting at them. Yet it seems that the people are continuing with the protests and indeed estimates now are of 20,000 protesters.
The news that brings shivers to the body and heart of any decent human are urgent reports coming in right now that helicopters are shooting live ammunition on the crowds in al-Baida. "This regime is like no other, we are all being slaughtered now on the streets! They are killing anyone and everyone" says one witness. Another one states "The regimes are inherently fragile", "Stay strong," someone else says to his fellow people in this darkest and most determinative moment in the history of Libya, the Middle East and the greater world.
In many videos coming from Libya, police can be seen on the street and police vans. In this one tragic video, you can see the killing of one protester .
The hospitals are running out of medication. The media is not allowed in the country. The internet and mobile communications have been cut off, Twitter has been blocked. The only source of any news of these despicable acts which some are calling a massacre comes only from scattered brave sources.
That their own sons shoot on their brothers and parents protesting peacefully is a travesty beyond words. They should not be allowed to excuse themselves for only following orders; there are reports that some security forces refuse to fire. The full force of the law ought to fall down on any army or policeman who dares kill.Continued on the next page
