Use Twitter Properly When Running For Public Office
It may be difficult to process in the Internet era, but think all the way back to May 2009 when many people — media types and businessmen — were looking at Twitter the way a dog looks at his owner when he hears a command for the first time. What ... the heck ... is this?
One such puzzled politician is Mike Parry, the Republican candidate for a vacant Minnesota state senate seat. Back in May, Parry was indeed using Twitter (which is good), but not correctly (which is sometimes worse than not at all):

That's not ... oh my.
He took that one down, along with 42 others that included a Seinfeldian quip: "What’s with the Dems and Pedophiles?" I know! And what's the deal with bluetooth headsets? I don't see any teeth, and wouldn't they hurt the person's ear?
For whatever reason, Parry has since wised up to tweeting more intelligently (in the politician's sense), because he has now resorted to sharing about his morning doughnuts.
However, because the tweets are gone and a "vague" apology was all offered by Parry, it doesn't seem to be enough Democratic-Farmer-Labor party chairman Brian Melendez:
He admitted that he made the one about President Obama and he apologized for that. Ok, fine. But what about the one linking Democrats to pedophiles? Why were 33 tweets scrubbed? Is he referring to all 33 of them and does he now admit that they are all his?
Well, which is it? 43 or 33 tweets? And I think we're all curious. Now that Twitter no longer allows one to search on deleted entries, just imagine how many more campaign-damaging one-liners were thrown into the digital shredder. I mean, what's the deal with that?
