Video : Maxine Waters says "The Tea Party Can Go Straight To Hell"
At a town hall meeting in Inglewood, California Democratic Congresswoman Maxine Waters made the following statement, "This is a tough game. You can’t be intimidated. You can’t be frightened. And as far as I’m concerned — the tea party can go straight to hell."
The response from the crowd in Inglewood was very favorable and it was apparent that many in the audience possessed the same sentiment.
The former chair of the Congressional Black Caucus has raised a few eyebrows lately and received a great deal of press for her outspoken criticism of President Obama.
Earlier in the week from Waters, "We're supportive of the president, but we're getting tired. ... The unemployment is unconscionable (and) we don't know what the strategy is."
Waters makes the claim that while minority members of society have been affected the most by the current economic situation, the President is not fighting hard enough to create programs that will help the poor and unemployed and compromising too much on legislation that takes away programs that are designed to help the poor and unemployed.
Waters is certainly angry and that honest expression is striking a chord with many voters and she implores those voters to stand up and be heard. "We have to let the president know we're behind him, "Don't back up from the tea party. Stand up and fight them. Don't give in to them. Don't make deals with them because you are trying to get along."
