Autumnal Bread and Salad
http://gggiraffe.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 03/ autumnal-bread-and-salad.html
At the start of the week it was too hot to bake soda bread. The end of the week finds the weather too cold and I have had to put on the heater to make sure the bread has a warm place to rise. That’s why we say Melbourne has four seasons in one day! It brings to mind a fine Australian poem that most older Australians would have read at school. I have copied the choice bits to give you a taster but I encourage you to check out the full poem here because it is such a delight. Excerpt from Said Hanrahan by John O'Brien (1878-1952) "We'll all be rooned," said Hanrahan, In accents most forlorn, Outside the church, ere Mass began, One frosty Sunday morn.
