Early look at Colts’ 2008 opponents
http://mvn.com/ nfl-colts/ 2008/ 03/ 24/ 2008-opponents/
As I was thinking of something to write about today, I realized that I hadn’t really taken a look at the Colts’ 2008 schedule. Along with the usual “home and home” series with divisional rivals Tennessee, Jacksonville, and Houston, the Colts will take on the NFC North. That means they’ll play the Bears, Lions, Vikings, and Packers. I always enjoy the match-ups against the NFC opponents because, as a Colts fan, I don’t get to see the Horseshoes play those teams very often. It’s kind of exciting to see how the teams handle one another.

2008 Redskins Opponents Preview
http://mvn.com/nfl-redskins/2008/03/24/2008-redskins-opponen...Matt Adams, the MVN Writer over at Colts Couch Crew, wrote an article today previewing the teams Indianapolis will face next season. Well, I’m stealing his idea and doing a preview of the Redskins opponents. Matt’s article is a good read, and he does mention the fact that the Redskins will square off against the Colts in the Hall of Fame Game. Here is a preview of all thirteen of the Redskins opponents for the upcoming season, with a power rating factor (a statistic I have created based on the sum of the individual talent of the team, translated to equal point differential. Consider “power factor” to be what point differential would be if instead of subtracting points against, if we added a statistic called “points against prevented”), as well as a link to the team’s MVN site for further reading on the teams’ offseason moves. Power Factor Defined: Projected Points For (PPF) plus Projected Points Prevented (550-Projected Points Against) (PPP), when both PPF and PPP are standardized so that the 32nd ranked team has a ranking of zero. Dallas Cowboys (home, away) http://mvn.com/nfl-cowboys/ Power Factor: 315 (Power ranking: 9th/32) Key Losses: Julius Jones, Jacques Reeves Key Additions: Zach Thomas I see the Cowboys to be more of the team that finished the season in 2007 than the one that established themselves as the best team in the NFC in the first half of it. Tony Romo, Jason Witten, and Marion Barber are all great players, no doubt about it. Terrell Owens is a year older, and the defense is still going to have major issues in pass coverage. They are very deep in the defensive front seven, and though their OL probably overachieved in 2007, they are at no shortage for offensive weapons. They are probably a little bit better than the Redskins at this point. (more…)
