The company, building a $124 million manufacturing plant and headquarters at the town of Florida Business Park in Montgomery County, said it was disappointed and discouraged that it is the target of a protest by organized labor. Beech-Nut said more than 80 percent of the $20 million in contracts that have been awarded so far have gone to New York state companies that employ unionized labor. “The companies we have selected to date entered competitive bids and were chosen because they maintain excellent safety records and outstanding performance related to on-time and on-budget work,” the company said.
