National: RNC Opens Up Platform

Saw this interesting article on TechPresident this morning about the GOP’s efforts to open up their 2008 RNC Convention platform to the base through GOPPlatform2008.com. The article shows an interesting dichotomy between the GOP’s efforts - and the much more “closed shop” efforts of the DNC. I say “interesting” because the DNC so often is though of as the home for bottom-up netroots outreach. Granted, the jury is still out on whether this effort is just window-dressing for the GOP, and on how they truly will incorporate idea submitted through the online portal into the actual platform. But it certainly is a major step in the right direction on how the national GOP can start harnessing the power of its netroots and base.
