Live action Cowboy Bebop in the works

Twitchfilm.net is reporting that 20th Century Fox is working on a live action adaptation to the legendary anime classic Cowboy Bebop.  This follows in the footsteps of live action reworkings of such anime classics like Ghost in the Shell, Akira and Robotech.  Apparently the somewhat lackluster box office take of Speed Racer earlier this year hasn’t stopped studios from pushing forward with these projects. But unlike the other projects being developed, Cowboy Bebop probably has the biggest chance of not being lost in translation in it’s Hollywood live action form.  And that’s because Cowboy Bebop is itself a reflection of many genre movies and television ranging from Hong Kong gangster movies to Spaghetti Westerns.  No word yet on whether creator Shinichiro Watanabe will have a hand in the Hollywood incarnation of his acclaimed series.  Here’s hoping composer Yoko Kanno is brought back to do the musical score or at the very least write a few songs for the live action movie. In the meantime here’s the trailer for Cowboy Bebop’s first foray into movie theaters Cowboy Bebop The Movie (or as it’s known in Japan Cowboy Bebop Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Au1AO1xaEts Source: Twitchfilm.net
