Harlem Food Policy: Two Opportunities for Community Input
http://communitybasedplanning.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 0...
In the City Planning Commission’s recent report on food access in New York City, Central and East Harlem were identified as neighborhoods with “high needs” for grocery stores and supermarkets. This, coupled with rising food prices can create a tough situation for Harlemites looking for healthy food choices. On May 29, representatives from the New York State Council on Food Policy will hold a “Listening Session” in Harlem to hear residents’ concerns about these and other food-related issues. In preparation for this meeting, the Harlem Food and Fitness Consortium, WeACT for Environmental Justice, and Senator Jose Serrano will hold a community planning session tomorrow night at the 125th St.
