Red Alert 3 cast not likely to be taken seriously

Filed under: PC, Microsoft Xbox 360, Strategy The thing about camp, i.e. the utter failure of seriousness, is that it's often difficult to judge whether it's intentional or not. The live-action cutscenes populating EA's (and Westwood's before that) Command & Conquer games have always had an aura of sincere goofiness about them, the source of which can be traced to somewhat respected actors playing all-too-silly roles all too seriously.

Red Alert 3 still coming to PS3, but not this year
http://bluraydigital.com/414/blu-ray-general/red-alert-3-sti...Filed under: Sony PlayStation 3, Strategy It seems the folks at EA have slapped on some shades and a gratuitous amount of SPF 15+ lotion in an attempt to brave the “exotic and tough” development climate of the PlayStation 3. Red Alert 3 producer David Silverman told VideoGamer that the alternate history, real-time strategy romp is back in development for Sony’s system, after having been placed on hold in July. Silverman assures that there are “definitely people working” on it (sea otters just weren’t getting the job done) and that the Playstation3 version would benefit from the “the high-defness of Blu-Ray.” Though his other comments seemed to imply a release as soon as December, EA confirmed to Eurogamer that there “are no plans for a Playstation3 release of Red Alert 3 anytime before Christmas.” As for when exactly armchair generals can join Tim Curry, J.K. Simmons and the gang … time will tell. Sooner or later, time will tell. http://gamesprite.wordpress.com/2008/08/14/gemma-atkinson-fo...14Aug08 Gemma Atkinson For Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 By kombuwa Categories: News Tags: Command and Conquer, Gemma Atkinson, Red Alert 3, voice according to a recent press release, British soap opera star Gemma Atkinson will be lending her voice to the highly anticipated third installment in the Command and Conquer RTS franchise, Red Alert 3. If you follow the soap opera scene overseas, you may recall that Gemma played the character Lisa Hunter on Channel 4’s Hollyoaks and two spin-off series Holyoaks: Let it Loose, and Hollyoaks: In the City. If she still does not ring a bell to you, you may have seen her on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! or have perhaps seen her spreads in different media as a fashion and lingerie model. Making her videogame acting debut, Gemma will play Lt. Eva McKenna, a military officer with a sexy twinkle in her eye and a British stiff upper lip. Eva is a communications officer for the Allied coalition in their fight against the Soviet and Rising Sun superpowers who made her first appearance in Command & Conquer Red Alert 2. Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 takes place in an alternate time line and imagines what would have happened if time travel had been used by both Albert Einstein and the Soviet Union, and features an epic global confrontation with you at the controls of your chosen faction. Gemma seems pretty excited over her gig as a voice actor in a videogame, which you can discern from her quote in the press release: “I’m a gamer and the chance to act in one of the best loved videogames was an opportunity I was really keen to explore – especially as Eva is such a strong female character. The worlds of gaming and film are getting ever closer and as an actress I wanted to explore this exciting new area of drama, broaden my acting skills and continue the active, outgoing side of my personality that I showed in I’m A Celebrity…” To celebrate her new found voice acting talent, Gemma will be meeting fans and promoting her role in EA’s upcoming Red Alert 3 at Multiplay’s M Festival (the UK’s largest electronic games festival) on the afternoon of August 8. If you are a subscriber to Zoo magazine, the newest issue will feature a full interview with Gemma as well as her photo shoot in the guise of her Red Alert 3 character, Lt Eva McKenna. Red Alert 3 cast not likely to be taken seriously
http://lidless.net/?p=5447Filed under: PC, Microsoft Xbox 360, Strategy The thing about camp, i.e. the utter failure of seriousness, is that it’s often difficult to judge whether it’s intentional or not. The live-action cutscenes populating EA’s (and Westwood’s before that) Command & Conquer games have always had an aura of sincere goofiness about them, the source of which can be traced to somewhat respected actors playing all-too-silly roles all too seriously. But is this done on purpose, or did the director read about “tongue-in-cheek storytelling” in a review somewhere and just decide to go with that? Either way, we’re more than happy to see EA unveil a “star studded” cast (complete list after the break) for Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, which includes George Takei, Tim Curry and J.K. Simmons, who plays the “anti-communist U.S. President.” Simmons, who doesn’t give a wooden nickel about your legacy, thinks video games “are one of the new frontiers for actors” and thought of the role as a “great opportunity for a character actor like me to have some fun.” Also allowed to open her mouth in the press release: Jenny McCarthy, who plays Allied commando Tanya. “What I realized is Red Alert 3 is not just a video game, it’s absolutely an interactive movie. This is where the people at home get to move the story forward, and where seeing the plot thicken is a reward for a job well done.” In case you weren’t aware, “that’s really cool.” Red Alert 3 is out on Xbox 360 and PC this fall in both regular and Premier editions.
