Holiday Price Drops on Consoles? Probably. [Gaming]

    http://gizmodo.com/392337/holiday-price-drops-on-consoles-pr...

Analyst Michael Pachter may be stating the obvious, but he expects a $50 price drop on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this holiday season. (Yes, we know that's like 6 months away.) That would put the Xbox 360 Premium at $299 and the 40GB

Pachter - console price drops for the holiday

Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter is predicting console price drops for the PS3 and 360 by the holiday season. The Wii is left out of the equation. I dont think Nintendo has any need to cut prices when the Wii is still flying off of store shelves.

Pachter: Rumored Xbox 360 Price, Feature Set Sprucing Could Squeeze Sony [Xbox 360]

Evidence suggests that the mid-level Xbox 360 might soon see a price drop to $299, and we've seen rumors suggesting that the imminent cut would make way for a new, 60GB Xbox 360. With price cuts possibly on the horizon that could bring console prices closer to the Wii's territory, should Nintendo worry? "The Wii audience is not choosing between 360 and Wii," said Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter. "Either they will buy a Wii only, or they will buy both a Wii and either a 360 or PS3. So Microsoft is right to consider the PS3 as the competition and to ignore the Wii." Sony is the one, says Pachter, with more to be concerned about regarding possible pricing and feature set changes for the Xbox 360: "Consumers see two boxes with very similar game experiences, and have to decide if a 360 with a 20Gb HDD, no Internet adapter, a very well-thought out Live experience and an extraordinary game library is a better deal at $349 (or $299) than a PS3 with built-in Internet adapter, a 40Gb HDD, a Blu-ray disc drive, a weak online experience and a relatively thin library of games for $399," said Pachter. Both Sony and Microsoft unsurprisingly declined to comment on rumors or on their future price strategy. Said Pachter, "So far, Americans consider the value proposition a toss-up, while Europeans value the PS3 more. Lower pricing and/or enhanced features for the 360 could change that."

Good News: Pachter Says We are Wealthy! [We're In The Money]

Good News: Pachter Says We are Wealthy! [We're In The Money] 29 Jun 2008 Por: Pablo Pino En la categoría: Noticias, Tecnología Alright, alright, forgive the distortion, but if you've bought a next-gen console — and worldwide, more than 60 million of us have — then you are "wealthy or hardcore gamers," according to everyone's favorite video game software analyst, Michael Pachter. I don't consider myself hardcore. And my aforementioned $1,500 rent apparently qualifies me as wealthy. Pachter's reasoning, in comments to GamePro, is that the next-gen consoles are not truly mass-market items yet, and won't be until their price point dips to $199. "Around 90% of last-generation console sales were made at the $199 price point or below," he says. "Only wealthy or hardcore gamers have purchased consoles so far, given that the PS3 is still $399, the 360 is still $349, and the Wii is still $249. When prices drop below $200 (probably in 2010), the mass market [for 360 and PS3] will emerge." Pachter's been on the warpath for console price cuts, predicting a $50 drop this holiday season for the PS3 and 360 as the console makers try in vain to duplicate last year's stellar sales figures. He's also said the current next-gen line is going to drop below 10 percent growth by 2010 unless they lop $150 off current prices. The Wii below $200, that's a solid bet. But good gosh, considering Sony's lost more than $3 billion so far, pricing the PS3 below its production cost, can anyone really think we'll see that unit below $200? Or the 360, for that matter? And if makers did follow his predictions, there would be about a one-year mass market for these consoles before market forces dictated the next next-gen console for us wealthy hardcore gamers, around 2011. If that's when these consoles finally enter the mass market, and how long they'll stay, how many good games will we really see in that span? Price, not GTAIV to Blame for Slow PS3, 360 Sales Analyst Says [GamePro]

Wakey wakey: All the news in 30 seconds

    http://www.techradar.com/news/world-of-tech/roundup/wakey-wa...

It’s the last day of the working week and the buzz about the imminent new iPhone model is hotter than ever. The latest tittle-tattle has it that GPS will be a central plank of the new handset. Fuel was added to the fire by an Apple job listing seeking an engineer versed in the dark arts of GPS installation (among other things). Too late anyway Of course, the likelihood that the 3G iPhone launch is just over two weeks away and the implication that the hardware has obviously long been finalised does nothing to stop the gossip. Perhaps the dissection of this fake 3G iPhone screenshot will be a valuable lesson to the chattering masses. Or maybe not… Speaking of chattering, yet another one of those analyst chaps has been blabbing about how he sees the future of the games console market. Stating the obvious Michael Pachter, whoever he is, says the Xbox 360 and PS3 will both get a price cut later this year, but that sales will slow down come what may. Looking to 2011, he suggests growth will stop and that it’ll be time for a new round of consoles. We have no idea who this guy is, but he sure knows how to state the obvious. Lastly for this morning, it seems someone has found an even more pointless use for Twitter. A US geek supreme has managed to connect his Twitter account to his bedroom light so that he can turn it off by mobile phone. While he’s standing in the same room. Should you feel moved to try something equally daft yourself, just remember to use a secure password on your Twitter account – not one of these pathetic attempts to be obtuse. That’s it for now, but stay tuned to TechRadar for the rest of the day’s news as it breaks or grab a feed here - get it while it’s hot.

    http://yougamefreak.blog84.fc2.com/blog-entry-746.html

Games Rader

Werden 360 und PS3 zu Weihnachten günstiger?

    http://www.xbox360welt.com/2008/05/21/werden-360-und-ps3-zu-...

Werden 360 und PS3 zu Weihnachten günstiger? 21. (via Kotaku) Eingeordnet in 360 Allgemein |
