The Content Network: Sure, Why Not?
http://www.afftoolbox.com/ 2008/ 03/ 01/ the-content-network-sure-why-not/
I started affiliate marketing at the beginning of 2007 but it didn't really take off until I started pushing, as you might guess, ring tones. It took me from a few sales a day totaling about $50-60 on Clickbank to a couple hundred per day on Azoogle. Starting ring tones wasn't my idea. It was my friend Paul's idea and one of the things he told me he'd done to be successful with ring tones was to stay away from the content network as the conversion rates were extremely low. At the time, I had very little experience so I wasn't about to test the waters against the good advice of an established marketer.

The Horrors of The Content Network
http://neilsweb.com/affiliate-strategies/the-horrors-of-the-...The Horrors of The Content Network Posted in Affiliate Strategies | Posted on March 6, 2008 | No Comments » Over on Digital Point forums some guy was targeting new webmasters to start a “free business” that was guaranteed to make money. Sound to good to be true? Ya guess what it was haha! I messaged this guy to see what he had planned, and it turns out his “business” was to get about 15 people that would exchange AdSense clicks with each other. As an Adwords user I was kinda mad as I realized this kinda of stuff probably happens quite a bit before Google catches it! The funniest thing about this guy was the sales pitch he tried to use. check it out what he messaged me: “Hi, Before I tell you everything, I want you to know that online business is for people who are smart, wise, and creative. Online business is not for people who are 100% honest. Let me tell you this thing. John Chow is earning more than $10k from Adsense monthly; the owner of Invision Free is earning more than $30K per month, and many more big earners… The question is, are they 100% honest? Of course not… what they are doing is not 100% illegal and not 100% legal… Ok, here we go… I was with hitzila.com before and the owner was earning around $60K per month from adsense. After 2 years of having accumulated funds from adsense, he created his own online business and still have adsense on his site but he is not doing what he was doing anymore. To make short, he had around 100 people around the world clicking for his ad and these people are being paid $50/month. So he was paying a total of $5K per month for the return of $60K… smart isn’t it? Why I know? Because I was one of these paid clickers.. Anyway, what I am offering here straight to the point is click exchange. Why it is safe? Because we will do this alone (around 15 people) with good-traffic websites. So, we will get around 28 clicks per day coming from 14 IP addresses (excluding the normal clicks from other people) If you are in, then let me know. If you are out, forget me and this message. Simple as that.. this program will work even if there are only 2 members… just a 5-minute time to click is enough everyday.. Let me know. Jun “ Haha, What a joke! With that said I still agree with the recent post by Scott from affiliate toolbox about testing the content network however this guy just reminded me of the type of junk you could end up paying for. I guess the moral of this little story is in your next campaign remember to simply tests the content network and not keep it running 24/7 unless it is profitable. If not you might being paying for a bunch of garbage. Make a Comments »
