Notre Dame starts nanotechnology center

The University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., today announced a new $61 million nanotechnology center called the Midwest Academy for Nanoelectronic Architectures. The center, which like the University at Albany’s College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering will be supported by IBM Corp., will work on developing structures for the next generation of computer chips. Purdue University, the University of Michigan, the University of Illinois and Penn State University will also participate, along with Argonne National Lab, the Natioanl Institute of Standards and Technology, and the National High Magnetic Field Lab.
