Can A Man Be A Twilighter Too? One Guys Tale Of Being Bitten And Smitten
http://moviesblog.mtv.com/ 2008/ 05/ 15/ can-a-man-be-a-twilighter-too-one-guys-tale...
While most people will always remember where they were the moment that Kennedy was assassinated or the O.J. verdict came down, Twilighters can never forget a third event: Where they were when they bought their first Stephenie Meyer novel. Somehow, the literary phenomenon had escaped me. Much like Pinkberry or Kelis' "Milkshake" song, "Twilight" managed to capture the hearts and minds of millions while I was obliviously living a life without it. Then in January I interviewed Miss Kristen Stewart at Sundance as part of my job, and much like any day at the "office," we discussed upcoming projects she was excited about.

Twilight Tuesday
http://twilightextremists.com/?p=581The Twilight movie cast and our Twilight Dude, Larry Carroll will be going to space. Seriously. Just not in the way you think. ;D Since becoming a “Twilight” fan, I’ve made a lot of new friends, traveled to the very-cool town of Portland for the first time, and gotten some strange looks in the YA section at Barnes & Noble. This week, I’m remembering how up-close-and-personal I got to Bella Swan’s iconic truck. But I never thought Stephenie Meyer’s addictive books would take me…into outer space? “This is to certify that the name ‘Larry Carroll’ has been included on the list of names launched in 2009 with the Kepler spacecraft into orbit around the Sun,” read an official NASA certificate of participation that arrived unexpectedly in my office mail this week. “The Kepler Mission is NASA’s first mission capable of finding Earth-size planets orbiting other stars in our galaxy.” Wow. Up until this time, the closest I’d come to space travel was the times when my wife would tell me: “Your head’s stuck in Uranus.” The mastermind behind this most irreverent honor is Regina Schraut from Holbrook, Massachusetts. She’s a loyal Twilight Tuesday reader who serves as the Regional Coordinator for The Planetary Society, and she recently came up with the idea to “launch” the names of key “Twilight” personalities into outer space. This woman is thorough: So far, she’s sent certificates to Catherine Hardwicke, Rob Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz , Nikki Reed, Peter Facinelli, Jackson Rathbone, Elizabeth Reaser, Cam Gigandet, Rachelle Lefevre, Edi Gathegi, Billy Burke, Christian Serratos, Justin Chon, Michael Welch, Solomon Trimble, Gil Birmingham and Lana Veenker. She also has them in the works for Stephenie Meyer, Taylor Lautner, Sarah Clarke, Anna Kendrick, Gregory Tyree Boyce, Wyck Godfrey (producer) and Melissa Rosenberg (screenwriter). So, if you notice a lot of “Twilight” stars missing in action next year, it’s because they’re literally hanging out with other stars. Ypulse Book Essentials: 'Hurricane Song,' Goosebumps Go To Hollywood, Teens Are Reading
http://ypulse.com/archives/2008/05/ypulse_book_ess_38.phpHurricane Song by Paul Volponi (I communicated with the author a few months back and wasn't able to review this, but I wanted to call attention to a stellar review from Colleen Mondor at Chasing Ray.) - R.L. Stine's Goosebumps are going to the big screen. (Columbia pictures bought the rights, and it looks as though they'll be fairly tasteful. I had never heard the term "safe scare"...I like it. Thanks Tracy!) (Variety) - Teens and young adult are reading (More good news about reading to send those naysayers packing.) (Newsweek) - Get caught up on 'Iron Man'...then see the movie! (Iron Man: Beneath the Armor is a tasteful packaging of everything you need to know about the superhero.) (Omnivoracious) - The Roald Dahl Award (The UK's Children's Laureate, Michael Rosen, creates a prize for the funniest children's book.) (The Guardian) - Right Book, Right Time: 500 Great Reads for Teenagers by Agnes Nieuwenhuizen (The right book at the right time...in library school you hear this all the time as it applies to youth services.) (January Magazine) - Can a guy be a 'Twilighter'? (Of course you can. Don't be shy. Join us.) (MTV.com) - Death Note (Live-action film premiere in select theaters May 20th and 21st. I'm kind of excited.) - Penguin gets more serious about children's books (and hires two new top level executives to books sales.) (Reuters UK)

Are you a Guylighter?
http://suburbanvampire.blogspot.com/2008/05/are-you-guylight...As usual, I find the best news about vampire entertainment from novelist Marta Acosta's Vampire Wire blog. Today she posted a link to an amusing article, "Can A Man Be A Twilighter Too? One Guy’s Tale Of Being Bitten And Smitten." If you're a male who's unexpectedly found yourself immersed in a young adult vampire love story, of all things, I'm sure you'll greatly appreciate this piece--written by an MTV dude, no less. I've searched the Web seeing if anyone has yet coined the term Guylighter for male Twilighters, but I haven't found any signs of it. Therefore, I'm offering the term to the Twilight lexicon to see if it catches on. Another site that tackles the subject: TwilightGuy.com.

Shutter shades for you, hun?
http://ssebasie.blogspot.com/2008/05/shutter-shades-for-you-...Meh. Fell asleep since about 1700 hours. Woke up 4 hours later to an empty house and I felt kind of creeped out. Haven't been having snooze breaks in a long time already and I wasn't used to sleeping in an unpopulated house. Meh. Feels v. creepy to me ie. what if someone breaks in? Good thing within minutes of tumbling off the bed - fat hope, I got up on the correct side - the door whammed open and voila! Hi Big Brother. He offered me fried chicken for dinner. OMAIGAWDDDDDDDD AHHHH Well earlier today we posted the new Season 3 Behind the Scenes Promo and at the :20 second mark, many fans feel that the individual in the baseball hat is none other than Nathan's brother Peter!? Here are the screencaps so you can judge for yourself: (I couldn't find the earlier post. Bummer.) All right, let's get back to srs bsns. Larry Carroll is a fan of Twilight himself. Wow. That sure is cool. Here's a parody of Twilight in a reading. I am lazy to embed the video but it's really funny. And this is S!Meyer's opinion on who should play what in The Host (it's mostly Twilight stuff). Hmm. A movie eh? Isabeli Fontana in Glam Brazil December 2004. Looking gorgeous. Those leggings in the third picture are to-die-for. This is an interesting article. This is the Flickr account of some girl who's really really cool at making her dolls pretty, and she's not just interested in Blythes, but she loves dollfies too! There are a few JBDs there. But the eye make-up of the Blythes are totally awesome! I love Thumbelina's polkadots. I wish I could do something like that to when I get my Ashlette/Hello Harvest/MBF (?). Might be having my doll tomorrow, might not. I shall live in fear tonight. (HAI JOSH I STEEL THIS LINE FROM TRANSFORMERS.) Uhhhhhhh Kai Wen wrote the article about us going to Tea Chapter and I'm glad even his Flickr is Eisabess-free because I wasn't in snapsnap mood that day so no point forcing me. With his aperture and shutter speed under those conditions, I bet I turned out looking smudged. 8D By the way, I didn't phrase my sentence so maturely. I just told him I loved the cha ye dan (yes I said "cha ye dan" and not "tea leaf eggs"). Journalists are well-trained at parasentencing. SHUTTER SHADES! MOAR SHUTTER SHADES! :( Winnie sez teh first one be bee-lookin. Wutever, Winnie. I lyke teh sekand one but it be makin me blynd. Lulz. USD $4.99! *headpalm* I want to know what Winnie's prez for me is. She told me I'll be getting it next week. I asked her if she could get me this and if she was getting me shutter shades and she was going all celebrity-like on me (the paparazzi), mysteriously answering a "maybe" omg Ihu Winnie you making me live in fearrrrrr. Shutter shades+Blythe=Bessy cowering behind Tugtug. Go Team Me!

Alas, "Moonlight," Arise "Twilight, (with new pics) and Rock On, Bon Jovi
http://vampirewire.blogspot.com/2008/05/mas-moonlight.htmlAUTHORS & BOOKS Review of Personal Demons by Stacia Kane. "Dr. Megan Chase has just taken on a new job counseling callers on a radio show, and with so many people in need of slaying their personal demons Megan has her hands full." (Darque Reviews) Read chapter one of Stacia Kane's Personal Demons. "It’s the voices. They talk to me all the time. When I'm awake, when I'm asleep…I hear them." (Stacia Kane) BLOG TO WATCH: I told you werewolves were the new vampires. Shapeshifter Romance is dedicated to all those hawt morphing things written by authors Rebecca York, Michelle Hauf, and Terry Spear. Right now they're having a contest for a signed copy of Rebecca's Ghost Moon. Just leave a comment on why shapeshifters are totally awesome. Colleen Gleason has the cover of her new Gardella Vampire novel, When Twilight Burns, on her site. I always think Colleen's book designer does a great job of conveying the mood of these period vampire novels: elegant, dark, sensual, dangerous. When you see one, you not only know it's part of the series right away, but you want to pick it up. Read an excerpt from Colleen's When Twilight Burns. "Now, here he was, ready to leave the Venators permanently." (Colleen Gleason) If you want one of Colleen's cool bookmarks (and, yes, I've got mine!), just click on the "extras" button on her site. TELEVISION CW has decided not to pick up "Moonlight." "Nikki is now reporting that CW has chosen not to pick up Moonlight." (E! Online) Why did CBS drop "Moonlight" just as it was developing an audience? "I drank the bloody Kool-Aid and started thinking like a fan (even though I always had my critical reservations). Up until last weekend, when the prognostications started turning sour, I truly thought CBS would give its cult romantic-mystery vampire drama Moonlight a long leash and a chance to work out its kinks..." (Seattle Post-Intelligencer) CBS chief discusses "Moonlight" cancellation. " While nothing can stop Moonlight fans from putting up a bloody good fight, their efforts are likely to be squandered by the network. " (Buddy TV) MOVIES & DVDS Yikes! The original script for "Twilight" was drastically different from Stephanie Meyer's novel. "For one thing, the lead Bella wasn't awkward or lonely but a popular track star. For another, the FBI showed up which reduced the Twilight climax to a typical action flick." (National Post) Here are some new photos from the "Twilight" set, which are basically Edward and Bella sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g. (Slash) And here's a whole mess more photos from "Twilight." "Created by novelist Stephenie Meyer, 'Twilight' is the story of a young woman in love with a vampire, and the problems that entails." (Los Angeles Times) Can a dude be a Twilighter? "As I cracked the novel that evening, my shame turned to shock. I was digging the book – a lot – and found myself immersed in Bella’s Forks experience." (MTV Movies Blog) GRATUITOUS VIDEO OF THE DAY "Bon Jovi rocks!" Dean Winchester. I'm hoping Sam manages to save Dean from hell. If Buffy could come back, so can Dean. Happy Hour at Casa Dracula is now available in mass market paperback! "Wickedly snarky, page-turning excitement!" El Paso Times "Crisp, funny, clever, and very, very sticky, in that you can't put the damn book down." Smart Bitches "Stephanie Plum meets 'Sex in the City' in this stylish, hilarious novel." Jennifer Cox
