The Big and Small of LeBron James

You know the play I'm talking about. In the waning moments of Game 4 against the mighty Celtics last night, you were surprised to find yourself wondering ... wait, is this nailbiter becoming a blowout? It was a contest that was all about defense, except for one play. Joe Smith set a pick for LeBron James. And James, for the first time in a long time, showed that he has apparently been listening to ESPN's Mike Moreau and David Thorpe, who have been imploring him to explode past the screen, instead of softly drifting by. This James did, but it was hardly layup time after that.

Links of the Day
http://www.hundiejo.com/links-of-the-day-4Enjoyed: Highlights from the Cavs/Celtics Game - Watch that dunk from LeBron to punctuate the win. Wow. You know that LOST episode that blew my mind? Here is some good recap and analysis. I think they have to move the island in time not change its physical location. Jake Jones sent me this good news of the (yester)day: Ticket to Ride XBLA details chug in. Can’t wait to play online with him after he is in Florida. Perhaps I’ll see Bredoman on there too, he shared this story on Google Reader as well. Maybe this will spur Danny to get an Xbox 360. #99 Grammar from Stuff White People Like - “Hangs head” Craked.com :: The 10 Most Terrifying Video Game Enemies of All Time - Black headcrabs? Hey Grant - “Shwoosh, Shwoosh.” Check. The best villain? Any Body of water in Sonic the Hedgehog II: Sonic’s deadliest nemesis was the innocent pool of water. This sounds totally stupid, but remember: You’re playing a video game about a neon blue rodent who jogs at Mach 5. You gave up your right to be incredulous a long time ago. Need to read closer (and you should too!) The Nature of Scripture: See 1 Samuel 13:1 in the hands of angry inerrantists and 1 sam 13.1 and inerrancy at finitum non capax infiniti. Challies.com :: Book Review - The Irresistible Revolution - Challies reviews Irresistible Revolution in this post. While he likes some of the points the book makes, Challies takes serious issue with several points, some of which are a prosperity message, traces of pantheism, and civil disobedience. While Challies’ motives and concerns are in the right place, I think he misses the mark in evaluating what Claiborne is saying in these areas. I just wanted to point out this review now, I hope to post something substantial on it in the near future, when I am done grading and writing for this semester. The Evangelical Manefesto - I heard a lot about this last week. Have not had the time to check it out. I look forward to doing so next week. I love a lot of things about the evangelical movement, but lots of other stuff makes me slap my head in shame, disgust, and flabbergahstedness.

Starting 5–Featuring Eunuchy Goodness
http://2manweave.com/2008/05/13/starting-5-featuring-eunuchy...–1– Slim29: Okay, numero uno: BronBron’s MaMa. –2– B: Did you notice Doug Collins on that video? He seemed pretty upset with the wrap-up foul, claiming that a player can get injured really easily through that. S: ‘Cause the alternative is really safe. B: That’s right, just hit ‘em in the face from behind, or even throw ‘em into the stands. “Sorry, man, didn’t want to wrap you up and hurt your ankle.” –3– S: I won’t embed LeBron’s dunk, ’cause if you haven’t seen it yet then I’m not sure you deserve to. B: I did see it, but whatever. Henry Abbott had a great writeup too. S: Fine, but everyone’s forgetting KG’s part in this. B: That’s because he didn’t play a part. S: Oh, my friend, how easy you are to manipulate. That’s exactly my point. He just stood there! Has he lost his fire? B: He hasn’t lost his fire to talk, that’s for sure. S: Yeah, but wouldn’t he have jumped for that block in the past? At least pretended to try? It was a close game at that point. B: Are you suggesting what I think you’re suggesting? S: Yes. B&S, together: Someone castrated KG. B: Let’s hope he heals before game 5. –4– B: Good thing Kobe’s sticking to his “no excuses” mantra. Here’s my favorite part: “It’s pretty sore right now,” Bryant said Monday. “It’s tight. It’s to be expected the next day, I guess. I don’t know how I made it through the game, to be honest with you.” S: I know how you made it through the game, Kobe. It was your super-human will to succeed. You are perfect. But just so dang humble. B: Truly amazing. A role model in every way. –5– S: While we’re hating on Kobe, this item really isn’t even mine But it’s such an exceptional piece of journalism that I had to link to it. B: And we’re all better for it.
