Raffles Hotel
http://jill-expat.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 02/ raffles-hotel.html
Today we (Joe, Mom, Dad and I) went for lunch at the world famous Raffles Hotel. Well, they say it's world famous, I had never heard of it before I started looking into Singapore. What makes it famous is: the Singapore Sling. It was created at the Raffles Hotel by Ngiam Tong Boon in the 1910's. The Raffles Hotel is a landmark hotel, done in British colonial style. During WWII, the recipes for the Singapore Sling and the cook's recipes were locked away for safe keeping. We ate at the Long Bar Steakhouse, they had a really good lunch buffet with excellent service. It was pricey though, the Singapore Sling was S$21.00.
