Invasion Of The LeBron Snatchers! [Nba Closer]

Invasion Of The LeBron Snatchers! The NBA Closer is written by Matt McHale, who could be replaced by an alien doppelganger any day now. It's been nice knowing you. When he's not trying to organize an underground resistance, he can be found practicing his "Nanu Nanu" at Basketbawful. Enjoy! We are all witnesses...to an alien invasion! The Martians have struck again. This time, they kidnapped our King and replaced him with a near-to-exact duplicate. It looks like LeBron James. It rumbles through the paint like LeBron James. It probably even cries like LeBron James.

Worst of the Night: May 8, 2008

LeBron James: In today's NBA Closer column, I joked that LeBron had been body-snatched by a group of world-conquering (and probably anal-probing) aliens. But now that I

Spurs: Old men wake up & school the punks
http://blogs.mysanantonio.com/weblogs/atlarge/2008/05/spurs_...Spurs: Old men wake up & school the punks After a frantic, week-long search, Emanuel Ginobili was found unharmed last night. Returned to the Spurs' starting line-up at the last minute, El Contusión chose not to rest, but rather took up residence in the faces and heads of the New Orleans Hornets. Manu scored 31 points as the Spurs beat the Hornets 110-99. The series stands at 2-1, with Game 4 set for Sunday night at the AT&T Center. I live blogged the game with Richard Oliver and the collective concern among the fans on board — beyond the absence of Turner promotions for "The Closer," "House of Payne," and "The Bill Engvall Show" — was the third quarter collapse of the Spurs in previous games. Last night, however, the Spurs came out strong and hammered the young Hornets, who collapsed under the pressure. We all rejoiced at brief sightings of Bruce Bowen and Michael Finley. We assumed they were in witness protection, but it's possible they were invaded by the same talentless space aliens who have taken over the body of LeBron James. How the West(ern Semifinals) was won The Spurs still don't have an answer for young stud Chris Paul, writes John Hollinger, but that doesn't matter since the East Houston Hooligans were able to clamp down on the rest of the team and score plenty of points on their own. Paul scored 35 and Tony Parker scored 31, but those numbers don't tell the story. Paul's points came at the expense of others on his team, who couldn't get the ball or couldn't get good shots. His points, in other words, were last resort points. Parker's points — and Manu's, for that matter — showed the ability of the Spurs to penetrate the Hornets' defense. Or, to be more precise, it showed the Hornets' inability to stop the Spurs. Back from the milk carton Let's assume that the guards canceled each other out. If so, the key might have been the two missing Spurs. A big factor was the ability of Bowen to clamp down on New Orleans' lone Serbian athlete. Peja Stojakovic had a mere 8 points, and that was huge. And Finley, who has been worth every penny the Spurs are paying him, did better coming off the bench with 11 points. The final margin of victory should've been 20 points, but you can't tell what's going to happen in garbage time, so it was only 11. However, as I predicted in the live blog, if the Spurs won by 20, then it meant they had figured the Hornets out. And if they have figured the Hornets out, they will win the series. The Spurs have figured the Hornets out. The Spurs will win this series.
