When Bill Gates speaks, business leaders listen That’s the message Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates imparted to about 115 business leaders at his company’s annual CEO summit this morning. Gates said that IT – and in particular the PC and desktop software – was responsible for the productivity boom in the late 1990s. Since then, the cost of computer equipment, Internet connectivity and just about every other technology – with the notable exception of business software – has gone down.
