Toshiba to ship laptops with Cell-based GPUs this year Toshiba has pledged to begin selling notebooks equipped with its oddly named SpursEngine graphics chip this year. SpursEngine is based on the technology that powers the PlayStation 3's Cell processor.

Toshiba venderá un portátil con procesador CELL
http://www.fanboy.es/2008/05/12/toshiba-vendera-un-portatil-...Al parecer Toshiba está preparando portátiles que incorporarán una versión de 4 SPE’s del CELL (la PS3 usa 7 SPE’s), micro que fué desarrollado por IBM, Motorola y Sony para hacer de corazón de la PlayStation3. Probablemente esté presente en la serie más potente de portátiles de Toshiba, Qosmio G40, durante este año 2008. El CELL irá calzado en el SpursEngine. Que es por decirlo de alguna manera, la tarjeta gráfica del ordenador. El procesador central seguirá siendo de arquitectura x86. Esto hará que el portátil sea una auténtica bestia en tareas de diseño gráfico y decodificación de video en alta resolución, quedando orientado principalmente a todo lo que sea trabajo multimedia. Ya me parecía a mí que tardaban mucho en usar el CELL en otros sitios, viendo el rendimiento que puede llegar a alcanzar la criaturita. Fuente: The Register
