[The Etsy Steam Team at the Steampunk Con (from left to right, by username: lilibat, PinkPeacock, nullalux, 19Moons, Choklit, OrpheusAlchemy, IndustrialFairytale, FaradayBags, and figments. Photo by Andrew/shoutingboy).] I finally met members of the Etsy Steam Team at last week's Steampunk Convention. As you may or may not know, Etsy (think: Amazon meets eBay at a craft's fair) allows sellers to organize themselves into "teams" based on similar interests or product lines (to network, share promotion, skills, etc.). Obviously, the Steam Team is gathered around their mutual interest in making and selling steampunk and Victorian-inspired art and crafts.

http://dailydiy.com/2008/11/06/fyriel-the-alchemical-steampu...There were all sorts of amazing and wonderful costumes at Steam Powered. I found myself stopping people in their tracks, in hallways and in the vendor area, asking them to back it up so I could take in their get-up. Now normally, people might be a little creeped out if you stopped them so you could ogle their outfit, but here, everyone was more than happy and enthused to show off everything, explain how they made it, how many hours in took, etc. [...]

New And News
http://totusmel.blogspot.com/2008/11/new-and-news.htmlAh, back to tatting. I spent yesterday afternoon discovering a new design to exploit from those antique pattern books. I think I've found a good one and I've finished the first piece using it and I'm well into the second which will be far more dramatic as is my way. I'm calling this piece 'Starburst' because of the small star shape in the center, but it began life as a pattern for a lunch cloth, whatever that is. [...]
