Cocke County General Session Judge Asks For Temporary Recusal on Some Criminal Cases

The big news coming out of Newport that Cocke County General Session Judge John Bell was filed an order to remove himself from all criminal cases where probation might be or part of the sentencing with Tennessee Administrative Office of the Courts. The filing stems from a complaint filed by Dan Metcalf, also of Cocke County, in February 2006 over incident that occurred during Bell’s last reelection. I haven’t got links to the stories online as none could be found yet. That has always been the problem with small town news, it not published until the news cycle has already run it’s course.
