Nuance FY Q2 In Line, But Goldman Cuts Ests; Stock Sinks

Nuance Communications (NUAN) late yesterday reported pro forma revenue for its fiscal second quarter ended March of $219.9 million, ahead of the Street at $214.3 million. Pro forma profits were in line with the Street at 18 cents a share. Nonetheless, the speech technology company's shares are sliding this morning. In a research note, Goldman Sachs analyst Derek Bingham said the results showed "a chink in the Nuance armor," and that the results were "likely not enough to meet elevated expectations." "Nuance's March report showed that the company's Network Speech business is not immune from macro slowing, consistent with slowdowns we've seen in other large-deal areas of software," Bingham writes.
