Morning Sweep Although New York Family Court ruled that a trans teen should have her sex reassignment surgery paid for by the state, the court of appeals reversed the decision, saying that a teen isn’t ready for such a life-altering procedure. The loneliness that many of the elderly face when family and friends pass away can be even worse for aging LGBT people who are already isolated because of their sexual orientation. A federal court ruled that a Florida high school principal who banned students from wearing clothing that displayed pro-gay symbols – but allowed clothing with Confederate flags – violated students’ First Amendment rights.
