One of the regulars who showed me around Delaveaga yesterday was a female doctoral student in Environmental Studies at UC-Santa Cruz named Stacy, an ardent and un-shrill The Hillary supporter, who makes the argument that the sexist attacks on The Hillary by the media and Obama and Obama surrogates and supporters are so prevalent as to be invisible. Stacy didn't go as far as this blogger, who likened The Hillary's treatment to domestic violence, and when I asked Stacy about that comparison she said that's why she didn't read political blogs. (I told her I blog, I gave her the address; she said she might look, but don't count on it, and she certainly wouldn't comment.) The point of my post yesterday was that I see The Hillary as genderless, that I'm completely anti-CLINTON INC, that it could be the Clinton's parakeet running for president, and as long as Mark Penn and Terry McAuliffe and James Carville and Geraldine Ferraro and every other CLINTON INC executive and major $$$-contributor believed in their bought-and-sold hearts that the parakeet was entitled, nay, ordained to be president, I'm anti-that fricking parakeet. Posting a picture of Elton John in a yellow pantsuit was snark but not sexist: he's as genderless as The Hillary, his "music" as cynical as CLINTON INC's politics. Stacy said she'll vote for Obama begrudgingly if he's the nominee, though she'll donate no money and volunteer no time, and challenged me to make the same claim about The Hillary, and I.... I keep saying to myself Alito Scalia Roberts Thomas, Alito Scalia Roberts Thomas. Stacy said it may not be sexist to hate The Hillary, but it is sexist to vote for - or not vote against - someone who will add two more pigs to the Alito Scalia Roberts Thomas train if The Hillary is the nominee. Which is blackmail, of course. Regardless which candidate. Whether or not as cynical as Elton John's "music" is the question. That I'm a rube is beyond dispute. *But shit like this doesn't help. But shit like this doesn't help, adding, it's not sexist to tell her to go and it's not sexist if she wants to stay. But shit like this doesn't help, adding, release your tax returns, you gender-neutral corporate spokesperson. But shit like this doesn't help. But shit like this doesn't help. James Carville on servility and fealty above national interest. Shameless self-promotion. Soft-totalitarianism of the American elite. Morality, justice, and life-destroyed. Sadr's revolt and the myth of the surge. Sheesh. If you just remove the word "success..." On torture and McCain. Meta meta meta. Adding, I'm reading Human Smoke now, wish I'd been reading it when the conversation was on. Two-legged dog walks upright. Radioactive cat arrested on I-5! I will read this, adding, Midnight's Children is still one of my five favorite novels ever. The end of the world starts in Switzerland. Friday Hope Blogging (weekly, the most beautiful post in the world). Meet your new overlords. * Stacy, btw, threw a 77, and didn't miss a putt from 50 feet and in. She'd set up, rock once, laser her aviar dead center, no hyzer, no arc, zing and ching. I'd volunteer for The Hillary - I'd wear a The Hillary button! - in exchange for Stacy's putting skillz. I've got your cynical servility and fealty above national interest. * And no, I didn't forget. .... I suppose I could watch it on my laptop, but it's my last night of vacation and my last night in San Francisco. I'll watch the Pachuca game Tuesday night and be at RFK a week from today for Toronto and the Wednesday after that for Pachuca.

Karl Rove Offers Strategy for Dem MI/FL Delegate Mess

    http://www.triskele.com/2008/03/29/karl-rove-offers-strategy...

TalkLeft relayed an interesting portion of a CNN interview with Karl Rove, regarding how to solve the MI/FL delegate mess: I actually think Senator Obama has the capacity to resolve this situation in a way that gives him a big advantage, but it would have to be a gutsy call. And that is, at some point, probably in June, after the delegates have all been elected […], it would be a gutsy call if Senator Obama stepped forward and said, I want to seat Florida and I want to seat Michigan. I know they did the wrong thing, but we did the wrong—but we should not compound our error by not seating them. Seat the entire delegations. Now, if he is ahead by 100 to 150 votes at that point, by my calculations, she picks up 54 delegates on him if these two delegations are seated, and it—but it is a gutsy call. And he—you know, if he is 150 ahead, he suddenly becomes 100 ahead. If he is 100 ahead, he suddenly becomes 50 ahead. But I think it gives him—it makes him look like a leader. It resolves the situation. It helps him in the fall in these two states. And it probably gets a lot of the superdelegates to step forward and say, that was a courageous move, and I am going to support him as a result of him doing this. I could actually envision that happening…especially if Obama maintains his perceived 100-plus delegate lead. Failing that, another alternative would of course be to hold the superdelegate caucus in June that Governor Bredesen has called for. If, after the the superdelegates have weighed in, Obama has a margin of comfortably more than 54 delegates…seat Michigan and Florida, and make sure there’s a plank in the party platform calling for primary reform to prevent such silliness from happening again. It’s also probably worth noting, as an aside, that Electoral-Vote.com has started posting its running electoral vote projections, using hypothetical Clinton-McCain and Obama-McCain matchups. In both cases, McCain is ahead, although the Hillary-McCain matchup is closer than Obama-McCain. However, how much of the Democratic weakness is the result of intraparty bickering remains to be seen. Even though I’d prefer to see divided government (if the Dems will control Congress, I’d prefer to have a Republican in the White House), I’ll try to not pay too much attention to the electoral vote projections until convention season; the numbers have to be distorted by the Hillary-Obama brawl.

Karl Rove has some advice for Hillary

    http://www.deadissue.com/archives/2008/03/28/karl-rove-has-s...

Karl Rove has some advice for Hillary Karl Rove(no relation) has a some suggestions for Hillary Clinton on ways to smear Obama. Here is the deal, if Karl Rove thought it up, it is probably dishonest, sleazy and bad for the country.  I wonder how long it will be before the Clinton campaign takes Rove’s advice.   Hopefully Hillary has some standards left somewhere and will ignore Mr Rove, but I would not bet on it.  Posted by John Rove as Words at 1:24 AM MDT No Comments » March 27th, 2008
