Complacency and inaccessibility. There is no competition for Governor Huntsman so he has no incentive to be responsive to individual citizens. From Oblogatory Anecdotes: In past state conventions the candidates mingled more with the delegates prior to the start of the convention. This time it seems like many of them only had there staff and supporters manning their booths and answering questions. In 2004, then candidate Jon Huntsman Jr. was very accessible, but this time he was there just long enough to give a speech. This was said by more than a few people at the Convention and in other conversations I’ve had. While the Governor is more than happy to make appearances for IKEA and David Archuleta Day, opportunities for citizens to interact with him on policy are few and far between.  My personal experience is that Governor Huntsman is indisputably the most inaccessible elected official in the State of Utah. TRIVIA QUESTION: In the last 35 years who is the only sitting Governor not to be interviewed by KVNU’s Jennie Christensen on Crosstalk? -Tom
