Headquartered in Heathrow, Florida, near Orlando, AAA has evolved over the past century to become the largest non-profit automotive service club and insurance providers in North America.
AAA was established back in 1902 in Chicago, Illinois. Its inception was inspired by a group nine smaller auto clubs who wanted to provide emergency car service to people driving on the nation's highways. Over the years, AAA expanded its reaches to the lower 48 states, utilizing regional branches of its national organization. By doing this, it allows AAA to tailor its services to its members' needs.
As of 2008, AAA claims a membership base of approximately 50 million members in the United States and Canada.
